Sattu chilla is also known as savory sattu pancake or roasted gram flour pancake. It is prepared with sattu flour, gram flour, vegetables, and aromatic spices. When all the ingredients are mixed, the batter is developed, then the batter is spread on the tawa in a circle and roasted with oil until crunchy and golden. That’s called the sattu chilla recipe.

Sattu is known for its excellent nutritional value. It is rich in protein, fiber, and essential nutrients, which help in digestion and provide sustained energy. Including sattu chilla in your diet can be beneficial for maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle. It is also a great option for those looking for a wholesome and satisfying breakfast.

You can easily switch up your breakfast routine by trying different types of cheela, such as besan chilla, suji chilla, or meetha cheela. These variations are also simple, quick to make, and bring a nice balance of flavors- whether you prefer something savory or a light sweet option.

One of the best things about the sattu chilla recipe is its simplicity and versatility. It requires minimal ingredients and can be prepared in just a few minutes. You can customize it by adding vegetables like onion, tomato, carrot, or cabbage to enhance the taste. The addition of vegetables and spices makes it a delightful dish for all age groups.

Ingredients

Flour- I use one cup of homemade sattu (roasted chickpea flour) and half a cup of besan (gram flour). You can use semolina or curd instead of gram flour. They help in combining the sattu mixture well and prevent breaking. So you can any one which you prefer along with sattu flour.

Vegetables- I used chopped onion and tomato to add crunch to the chilla. You can add more veggies to your choice, like carrots, capsicum, and cabbage. You can chop or grate them; both methods work well.

Green chilies- Add a mild spicy kick. I used two chopped green chilies; you can adjust the quantity to your taste.

Herbs- Fresh coriander leaves give a refreshing aroma to the chillas.

Spices- I used turmeric powder, carrom seeds (ajwain), garam masala, and salt to enhance the flavor.

Water- Add gradually to make a smooth batter.

Oil- I used mustard oil for cooking the chilla. You can use any vegetable oil.
