About Wheat Halwa

Wheat flour, also known as atta which mainly made from whole wheat grains. It is one of the healthy and nutrients packed cereal used in various Indian dishes, from simple roti to paratha to snacks to sweet dishes. One of them dish is I’m sharing with you today, i.e., Atta Halwa.

In wheat halwa, we first need a sugar and water mixture that prepares from boiling together until dissolved. After that, roast wheat flour in ghee until it becomes golden and has a nutty flavour. Cook it by adding the sugar mixture until it combines, then add some chopped nuts for a crunchy taste.

This atta halwa recipe doesn’t need any flavourings to taste amazing! However, you can add, by your choice, a pinch of cardamom powder. The wheat flour is enough to give you homemade vibes, like an authentic taste if made with happiness and pairing with poori or a cup of tea.

Ingredients

Wheat Flour- I have used coarse-texture whole wheat flour (aata) for this halwa recipe, or you can use multigrain flour too.

Ghee- Use pure ghee for better texture.

Sugar- I have used white refined sugar, sugar powder, brown sugar, and jaggery, which also work well.

Nuts- I have used almonds, cashews, and pistachios. You can use it to your choice.

How to make wheat halwa recipe

1. Add 1 cup of water to a pan along with 1/2 cup of sugar on medium heat.

2. Heat it until it comes to a boil.

3. When the sugar dissolves properly, turn off the flame and keep it aside by covering it. The sugar mixture is ready for halwa.

4. Now heat 3 to 4 tablespoons of ghee in a high-bottomed kadai on medium heat.

5. Add 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour to the heated ghee and start roasting it by stirring.

6. Stirring it with a spatula till it becomes aromatic and light golden.

7. When it turns golden and has a transulent aroma, it’s time to add the sugar mixture. It takes 8 to 10 minutes on medium heat.

8. Now pour the sugar mixture into it and stir it continuously because if you don’t do that, there will be lumps in your halwa.

9. Stirring it till the sugar mixture combines properly with roasted wheat flour.

10. When the halwa edges release ghee, add chopped nuts to it. You can add some cardamom powder here if you want.

11. Mix the nuts well with it and turn off the flame.

Serving

Serve this wheat halwa warm with a cup of hot masala tea. It tastes best when served fresh with poori (deep-fried bread) for a complete meal. You can serve it as a dessert after meals, and enjoy it during festivals or special occasions.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup wheat flour
  • 3-4 tbsp ghee
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp chooped nuts
  • 1 cup water

Instructions
 

  • Heat the water and sugar in a pan on medium heat.
  • Boil it till a roaring boil comes, and the sugar dissolves properly.
  • Then turn off the flame and keep the pan covered so that the mixture remains hot.
  • Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed kadai.
  • Now add whole wheat flour to it and roast on medium heat.
  • Roast by stirring till it turns golden.
  • When it gets golden, add the sugar mixture to it.
  • Stirring it continuously so that the lumps could not form.
  • Keep the flame medium and cook until the flour is mixed with the mixture.
  • When the ghee releases the edges of the kadai, it's time to add nuts.
  • Add chopped nuts and mix well.
  • Now turn off the flame and serve halwa immediately, garnished with nuts.
