Sweet Rice Recipe
This Indian and authentic sweet rice recipe is cooked with basmati rice, sugar, spices, and dry fruits. Its taste is sweet and soft in texture. It’s a quick and easy one-pot dessert that gives you the yummiest taste. Serve this sweet rice recipe with a cup of milk or you can eat it alone which also tastes best.

About Sweet Rice Recipe:-
Sweet rice, or meethe chawal, is a one-pot sweet dish that requires basmati rice, sugar, nuts, and some spices. This steamed cooked rice with multiple ingredients together gives an aromatic flavor, and it tastes like yum.
The easy and delicious rice recipe that I know i.e. sweet rice. It’s a common North Indian staple that is served during many occasions and celebrations. I’m a big fan of eating meetha and sweet rice recipe is one of them. Its creamy and soft texture made it a perfect dish to taste.
This warm and cozy dessert are made in various versions. Everyone prepare it in their own way but I prepare it in my mother’s style. Perfect blend of spices with rice, sugar, and water gives a rich and creamier taste. Try this version and I’m sure you going to be like it for sure.

Ingredients
- Rice: Use good quality of rice for this recipe. I use basmati rice here but if you like to use any other rice you also will go with it.
- Sugar: I use white sugar for this recipe but if you like to use raw sugar i.e. jaggery then you can add it which also tastes best.
- Ghee: Using good quality ghee is more important here if you want delicious sweet rice. I used homemade ghee here. You can use store bought also.
- Water: Use pour and filter water.
- Spices: I use basic spices here: cumin seeds, cloves, bay leaf, and green cardamom powder for more aromatic flavor.
- Dry fruits: I use almonds, cashews, dry coconut, and raisins for this recipe. But you can add other dry fruits according to your taste.
How to make sweet rice recipe:-
1.Take 1/2 cup of basmati rice and rinse them in clear water twice or thrice. Soak them in enough water for 20 to 30 minutes and set it aside.

2. Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pressure cooker. Add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, 2 cloves, two bay leaves, and 1 tsp green cardamom powder. Let them sizzle for a few seconds.

3. Then, saute chopped almonds, cashews, dry coconut, and raisins.

4. Add 1/2 cup of soaked rice in it.

5. Then add 1/2 cup of sugar.

6. After that add 1 cup of water. Use water in double quantity i.e. if you take half a cup of rice then add 1 cup of water in it.

7. Mix all of these ingredients well. Close the cooker lid and cook on medium heat. Wait for two whistles to come, and then turn off the flame.

8. When the pressure comes down naturally open the cooker lid and the sweet rice recipe is ready.

Serving Suggestions
- Serve this sweet rice recipe hot or warm with a cup of milk.
- Or you can serve it alone which also tastes best.
Tips
- Always soak the rice for 15 to 20 minutes to speed up the cooking process.
- For more rich and creamier taste the milk can be added instead of water.
- I add sugar to my taste which is the perfect ratio. But if you are a sweet toothed then more to your taste.
- If you don’t want to add sugar then condensed milk is the good choice to give sweetness to your recipe.
