Ingredients

  • ½ cup basmati rice
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp green cardamom powder
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 bay leaf
  • 1 tbsp chopped almonds
  • 1 tbsp chopped cashews
  • 1 tbsp chopped dry coconut
  • 1 tbsp raisins

Instructions

  • Take 1/2 cup of basmati rice and rinse them in clear water twice or thrice. Then soak it in enough water for 20 to 30 minutes and set it aside.
  • Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pressure cooker and add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, 2 cloves, two bay leaves, and 1 tsp green cardamom powder. Let them sizzle for a few seconds.
  • Then, saute chopped almonds, cashews, dry coconut, and raisins.
  • Add 1/2 cup of soaked rice in it.
  • Then add 1/2 cup of sugar.
  • After that add 1 cup of water. Use water in double quantity i.e. if you take half a cup of rice then add 1 cup of water in it.
  • Mix all of these ingredients well and close the cooker lid on medium heat wait for two whistles and after that turn off the flame.
  • When the pressure comes down naturally open the cooker lid and the sweet rice is ready.

Notes

  • Always soak the rice for 15 to 20 minutes to speed up the cooking process.
  • For more rich and creamier taste the milk can be added instead of water.
  • I add sugar to my taste which is the perfect ratio. But if you are a sweet toothed then more to your taste.
  • If you don't want to add sugar then condensed milk is the good choice to give sweetness to your recipe.
