Poha is made with onions, tomatoes, peanuts, raisins, and lemon juice. This is a super quick and easy recipe. Its taste is savory and cooks within a few minutes quality makes it most amazing!

Poha is made of flattened rice with some ingredients and herbs. It is originated from Maharashtra in western region of India and it’s most popular dish of there and now served across all Indian household. It commonly eats in breakfast, evening snack, quick dinner, school or office lunch boxes.
Poha also known as kanda poha or danda poha is made of beaten rice flakes. Adding a few ingredients of onion, spices, herbs, and lemon juice which are found in every house kitchen made it super easy and delicious. In our home, made it two times every week for breakfast and I enjoy it very much. Usually, I make it whenever I feel hungry bcoz after eating it feels very lighter and healthier and this quality made it my favorite.
It can be eaten with yogurt, green chutney, or grated coconut. It’s refreshing and full of protein. Poha is very easy to prepare and takes few minutes to cook.
Instructions with photo guide:-
- Take poha in a strainer or bowl and rinse them in water with your fingers two to three times. Keep it aside and do not soak it in water for more than a rinsing time.

2. Chop the onion, tomatoes, green chili, and coriander leaves into small pieces.

3. Heat a pan add peanut on a medium flame and fry it until it has a brown shade on the outside.

4. Then on the same pan add 2 tbsp mustard oil and heat it.

5. When the oil heats add mustard seeds and heat until they start splutter.

6. Add chopped onions and allow them to roast until it has a golden in shade.

7. Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric and salt. Cover the pan with a steamer for 2 to 3 minutes on a low flame so that the tomatoes parch properly.

8. After that add soaked poha, raisins, peanuts, and coriander leaves. Mix all of these ingredients well and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.

9. Mix well. Now the poha is ready squeeze a lemon on it and serve it hot or warm as you like.

Serving suggestion:-
- Serve the poha with toppings lemon, yogurt, green chutney, or grated coconut.
- You can served it with tea which also tastes best.
Tips:-
- When you rinse the poha 2 to 3 times drain the excess water and set it aside immediately. Do not soak it in for more than a rinsing time or else your poha would be mushy and sticky.
- Use always medium thick flattened rice.
- If you don’t have a strainer or using a bowl drain excess water at a time.
- If you want to add lemon juice add it when cooks and you are ready to eat unless your poha would have a sour taste.

- 2 cup Poha ( rice flakes)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 medium tomato, finely chopped
- 1 green chili, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
- ½ tsp salt or as per your taste
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- 2 tbsp oil
- ⅓ tsp mustard seeds
- 1½ tbsp raisins
- 1½ tbsp peanuts (ground nuts)
- 1 tsp lemon juice
