Suji Upma Recipe | Soft & Fluffy Rava Upma in 20 Minutes

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup sooji (semolina)
  • 1 tbsp oil/ghee
  • ¼ tsp cumin seeds
  • tsp urad dal
  • 2 dried red chilies
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 tsp salt or required
  • 3 cups water

Instructions
 

  • Roast the semolina in a pan on medium heat until aromatic.
  • Heat a kadai, add oil with cumin or mustard seeds, dried chili, and dal. Let them crackle.
  • Add chopped onion and green chili saute them till light golden.
  • Pour water and salt, wait it comes to a boil.
  • When the boil comes, add roasted semolina, stirring continuously.
  • Stir it well so that there are no lumps in the semolina.
  • Cover the kadai with a steamer and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Now garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve it hot with pickle or coconut chutney.

Notes

  • Pre-roast the rava to save your time.
  • Use a 1:3 ratio of rava and water.
  • Roast the rava in a fragrant texture to avoid sticking.
  • Add ghee to enhance the taste.
