- 1 cup sooji (semolina)
- 1 tbsp oil/ghee
- ¼ tsp cumin seeds
- ⅛ tsp urad dal
- 2 dried red chilies
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 tsp salt or required
- 3 cups water
Roast the semolina in a pan on medium heat until aromatic.
Heat a kadai, add oil with cumin or mustard seeds, dried chili, and dal. Let them crackle.
Add chopped onion and green chili saute them till light golden.
Pour water and salt, wait it comes to a boil.
When the boil comes, add roasted semolina, stirring continuously.
Stir it well so that there are no lumps in the semolina.
Cover the kadai with a steamer and cook for 5 minutes.
Now garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve it hot with pickle or coconut chutney.
- Pre-roast the rava to save your time.
- Use a 1:3 ratio of rava and water.
- Roast the rava in a fragrant texture to avoid sticking.
- Add ghee to enhance the taste.
