Instructions

  • Heat oil in a kadai with some cumin seeds. Let them sizzle for a few seconds.
  • Add chopped onion and saute until light golden.
  • Then add potato and green chili, and saute for a minute.
  • Now add 2 tbsp water, turmeric, and salt, and cook the potatoes over low heat until half cooked.
  • When the potatoes are half done, add vermicelli and 1.5 cups of water.
  • Cook on low to medium flame until fluffy or soft.
  • Stir it with a spatula so the vermicelli doesn't stick to the bottom of the kadai.
  • When all the water is absorbed and they are soft, turn off the heat.
  • Serve them with a cup of hot chai.

Notes

  • Roast the vermicelli on medium heat till golden.
  • Cut the potato into thin slices.
  • Pour in the water that I mentioned.
  • Cook on a low flame to prevent sticking.
  • Do not overmix them. Just fluff gently.
