Jeera Rice Recipe | Simple Indian Cumin Rice
Jeera rice is a simple, flavorful Indian rice dish made with basmati rice, cumin seeds, and basic spices. This fluffy cumin rice pairs perfectly with dal tadka, curries, and many Indian side dishes.

- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 bayleaf
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 cloves
- 2 green cardamom
- ½ tsp salt
Wash the rice in clean water and soak it for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pressure cooker.
Add cumin seeds and whole spices. Saute for a few seconds.
After that, add the soaked rice, water, and salt.
Mix all the ingredients well and close the cooker lid.
Pressure cook for 2 whistles on high heat, then turn off the flame.
When pressure is released, open the lid.
Fluff gently and serve.
- Use good-quality long-grained basmati rice.
- Always soak the rice for 20 minutes to get a fluffy texture.
- Use homemade ghee for a better aroma and flavour.
- Lastly, garnish with some herbs.
