Cucumber Raita Recipe | Easy Indian Yogurt Dip

Cucumber raita is a refreshing and simple Indian side dish made with yogurt, fresh cucumber, and mild spices. It has a creamy texture and a delicious flavor that pairs well with spicy Indian dishes, balancing the heat.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups yogurt
  • 1 medium fresh cucumber
  • 1 tsp black salt
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • ¼ tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped mint leaves

Instructions
 

  • Take a fresh cucumber peel and grate it. Squeeze the extra water from it.
  • Add yogurt to a mixing bowl and whisk till smooth.
  • Add grated cucumber, salt, cumin powder, red chili powder, and mint leaves.
  • Mix all the ingredients well.
  • Do a taste test, adjust spices to your taste.
  • Serve it with jeera rice or simple roti.

Notes

  • Use thick and creamy yoghurt for a better texture.
  • Squeeze excess water from the cucumber before adding. 
  • Check the taste of the cucumber before adding in the yogurt.
  • Refrigerate it for 30 minutes before serving.
