Kala Chana Chaat (Black Chickpeas Chaat)
This authentic and delicious kala chana chaat is a healthy snack and is easy to make. It is a common and popular street food in many parts of India. It needs boiled black chickpeas, vegetables, and a pinch of chaat masala powder with the squeezing of lemon. Toss all the ingredients well in a bowl, and this delicious kala chana chaat is ready.

About Kala Chana Chaat:-
Kala chana is also known as black chickpeas. This kala chana is quite healthy and packed with nutrients. I like this kala chana the most because of its nutritiousness. To make this kala chana chaat, you need some boiled black chickpeas, chopped vegetables, and chaat masala powder. When all the ingredients are mixed, then this kala chana chaat develops and tastes yummy.
This savory black chickpeas chaat is a popular street food in India. You can find it in tea and fast food stalls. But I rarely buy from there because I don’t like that taste much or I think is they use fresh ingredients or not. So I always like to prepare it at my home.
My mother usually makes it with mixing of potato i.e. kala chana sabzi. But I don’t like much of that. But this kala chana chaat is like comfort and satisfying food for me. Every week this chaat is prepare in our home and everyone likes to eat it. I think this is the perfect dish to make if you want to find something healthy to eat. Then you are in the right place.
I used only tomato and onion in this chana chaat because I don’t like other vegetables except these. But you can use other vegetables in this like cucumber, carrot etc. This chana chaat is good for a perfect meal. It is also good for lunch boxes and snacks.

How to make kala chana chaat (stepwise photos):
Preparation
1. First, you have to take 1 cup of kala chana (black chickpeas) in a bowl. Rinse them twice or thrice in clear water. Then soak them for 7 to 8 hours with 1-2 inches water above the chickpeas.

2. Later drain all the water. After soaking for hours, the chana looks like this.

3. Take a pressure cooker and transfer the chickpeas with salt to taste into it. Then add enough water to cover the chickpeas properly- about 1 cup.

4. After that, close the cooker lid and wait for 6 to 7 whistles on high heat.

5. Now, finely chop all the vegetables.

6. When the pressure comes down, naturally open the cooker lid. Drain the water and transfer the chickpeas to a mixing bowl. If the chana are not done, then again for a few minutes.

7. Now add chopped tomato, onion, green chili, and coriander leaves.

8. Now add 1/4 tsp of chaat masala powder.

9. Toss all of these ingredients well and squeeze lemon on it.

10. Now again toss everything well. The kala chana chaat is ready. Serve it as a snack or meal. You can pack it for lunch box also.

Ingredients
- 1 cup dried black chickpeas
- 1 medium tomato, finely chopped
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chili, finely chopped
- 1 lemon
- 1 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
- ¼ tsp chaat masala powder
- ½ tsp salt or as required
Instructions
